Kamikiri & Katakana
Experience during the Kamikiri event was very exiting. I was amazed at how exited the audience were, and to the sheer number of the audience. I had to squeeze on the corner to watch the event! Although I could not understand about 90% of what the performer was saying, I appreciated the amazing skills he demonstrated with his scissors.
Also, I am excited to start learning katakana. Only thing I know about katakana is that they are used to express foreign words. I have noticed them mostly in the names of countries like Australia. One funny expression I found was a katakana expression for a screwdriver (ドライバー). Learning katakana is interesting because in my native language of Korean, there are no specific alphabets that are used to express foreign words. I look forward to being able to read and write katakana.
